Tuberculosis: Clinical Policies and Program Manual
This manual describes policies, protocols and recommendations for the prevention, treatment and control of tuberculosis from the NYC Department of Health. It was written primarily for the medical providers of the New York City Bureau of Tuberculosis Control as a reference guide on tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The fifth edition was published in 2021.
While this manual is comprehensive and covers both routine and complex issues, it cannot and should not be substituted for the best judgment of individual providers in specific clinical situations. Those who use this manual are strongly encouraged to seek expert consultation when needed, particularly in special situations, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis. You can reach Health Department medical consultants at the TB Provider Hotline (844-713-0559) Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
